So large sporting events come around and the normal thing from every business is to write about a tenuous link between the event and their products or services! You read the article about Sir Chris Hoy winning gold and then the footnote explains that he rode a bike, the MD of said company is a keen cyclist and thus you should buy a year’s supply of their office products because of this critical link. What a load of balderdash.
Really the truth is, unless you sell coloured rings (available in packs of five), flame torches or sports apparel, you don’t really have a link with the current event engulfing the UK. Yes, you can offer Olympic special offers like 20% off during the games, but that’s probably the same as the August special offer which you run every year to keep sales up in a month where most of your customers are on holiday.
As you read this, I hope you realise what’s coming……….surely I have to finish with an unsubstantiated association between Databroker and the Games of the XXX Olympiad. I have to concede that the temptation to try is quite strong but I’ll avoid it!
All I want to say about London 2012 are Databroker’s thoughts; It seems like we have been waiting with baited breath for about a decade for the games to arrive and in less than 36 hours, they will be officially upon us with the opening ceremony.
Databroker loves competitive sport and wishes every competitor the best of luck during the games.
Databroker are lucky enough to be going to the men’s slalom canoe final, men’s hockey group matches and some athletics. We will be reporting live via @Databroker from all the events (NB. This assumes our country’s fallible 3G network holds up!).
So the only message from Data Broker which is related to this great event is, enjoy, get behind Team GB and let’s hope for a fair, honest and enjoyable games! Cue Jerusalem music………………….
